Webinar: The Practice of Gratitude as a Thread of Silk for the Holiday Season
November 27, 2018 @ 8:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Author of five books including the award-winning Naikan: Gratitude, Grace and the Japanese Art of Self-Reflection. Gregg has been teaching and studying Japanese Psychology for the past 30 years.
Over the past thirty holiday seasons I’ve experimented with various approaches to celebration and cultivating a grateful heart and a healthy mind. In some cases, I was experiencing the holidays with my wife, two daughters and our dog. Last year, our family spent a week at a Yoga Center in the Bahamas. In other cases, I was single and volunteering at a shelter or a home for the disabled. I found that my experience of the season was shaped more by my attitude and actions than by my circumstances. I also found that to cultivate an authentic sense of joy and appreciation I often had to move in the opposite direction of a culture that valued commercialism, overeating, overspending and the persistent presence of digital devices.
In this webinar, I will introduce five of my favorite “practices” for the holiday season that can be done personally or in a family setting. Then will have a lively discussion of how we can cultivate a spirit of joy and gratitude in the context of a global situation which can be disheartening.
